Here's what we were working with - a two-story Spanish-style stucco home in Carmel Valley with an older tan and beige color scheme that had run its course. The stucco had visible weathering, the trim blended into the body color rather than standing out, and the whole exterior just felt flat. Good bones on the house. The color wasn't doing it any favors.

The homeowners wanted something cleaner and more current without losing the Mediterranean character of the home. We landed on a crisp white for the stucco body paired with deep, dark trim accents throughout - windows, doors, the arched entry, eaves, and that distinctive bay window bump-out at the front. It's a combination that works really well on this style of home. The contrast does a lot of heavy lifting.

Before any paint went on, we handled full prep - stucco repairs, surface prep on every elevation, and careful masking around all the architectural details. On a home like this, the trim lines have to be sharp. The arched window framing, the Juliet balcony surrounds, the fascia edges - if those aren't cut in cleanly, the whole look falls apart. That's the kind of detail work that separates a paint job that looks good in photos from one that holds up on a second look from 10 feet away.

We covered every side of the house, including the side elevations and rear - not just the street-facing facade. Full exterior painting on a stucco home means treating the whole envelope, not just what the neighbors see from the curb. The door got refinished as part of the scope too, which ties everything together at the entry point.

The finished result is a home that genuinely looks like a different property. Same structure, same roofline, same landscaping - totally different presence on the street. That's what a well-executed exterior repaint can do for a stucco home in a neighborhood like Carmel Valley.
